A Christian missionary is commissioned by the Lord to make disciples (followers of Christ). Jesus commands all Christians to share the Gospel; the message of His death and resurrection that conquered the penalty and power of sin. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). God has called Dave and Rita to the mission field; not in a foreign land, but to a place called Camp Barakel.

Camp Barakel was founded in 1942 and is located in northern Michigan. Barakel hosts more than 9,000 people each year, and exists to proclaim truth about the living God. Because Barakel welcomes campers year-round, the glory of God is on display in every season.

Barakel has a special place in Dave and Rita’s heart. For many years, they have been campers and worked at Camp to proclaim God’s Glory. God uses Barakel to see lives changed for Christ’s kingdom and sinners come to a saving knowledge of the one true God. We want people to see their need for a Savior; Jesus Christ! God gave us a love for Camp Barakel, and a desire to serve others and to live out the Great Commission.

Well, won’t Camp pay you? 
Barakel is a non-profit organization that does not pay wages. None of the campers’ fees go toward a payroll. Therefore, we need to raise financial support. Barakel’s Board of Trustees has determined that we need to raise $4,500 per month.
Although we are asking you to partner with us now, no money needs to be sent to Barakel until we have 100% of our support pledged. We have included a pledge form that you can fill out and send to us to indicate your partnership with us. Emails are also welcome.
Our goal is to arrive at Barakel as full-time staff by Summer 2020. There is much to be done, so please pray for us and consider how you can join in our ministry!

What will our part be in God’s ministry at Barakel?
David will be managing the East Side Dining Hall. He will oversee all the meals, create menus, maintain and clean the Dining Hall, and most importantly minister to the Adult Volunteer Staff that will work with him. Rita will oversee our household and look after our children, Celia and Eli. She will also be involved in baking, food preparation, cleaning, and mentoring college aged women during the summer season.

How can you be a part of God’s ministry at Barakel?

1. PRAY
   Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for the saints,” We are seeking prayer warriors and intercessors who will bombard the Throne of God with prayers on behalf of us and Camp Barakel.
2. GIVE
   We need individuals to partner with us in giving financially on a regular basis to reach our monthly support of $4,500. These gifts are tax-deductible.
3. HOST
   Connect us with others who share a passion for spreading the Gospel. Introduce us to your pastor, Sunday school teacher, or small group leader so we can share our passion for Camp Barakel’s ministry.

Our vision is to see Christ glorified and exalted through Camp Barakel and spread abroad!
