Finally Arrived!

It always seems that life goes by way too fast. I remember growing up and hearing my dad listen to The Eagles’ “Life in the Fast Lane.” It is true of most American living that we want it fast and now. We want Filet Mignon, but cooked with the speed of a microwave. Call it Microwave Living. To Rita and I, these last few weeks we have been living Life in the Fast Lane! We had to frequently remind ourselves about God’s timing and the need to be patient for it. Proverbs 16:9 says this, “The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” Many times I need to ask for forgiveness because I try to overstep and move God along at my pace. Of course I soon come to realize that His timing is perfect and mine is not even close to his Perfection.

A lot has happened the last 2 months. On July 26th we had our Commissioning Service at Crossroads Community Church. It was an amazing service. Photos and video of Camp Barakel were shared. Some staff from Camp Barakel came down as well. Our immediate supervisor Keith Boeve and his wife Sue were there to share in the excitement and give encouragement. Paul Gardner, Camp’s director, was there to challenge both Rita and I to never give up and keep trusting God even when all else says not too. Our Pastor Curtis Wilson then challenged the church to not let us be the only missionaries ever sent from the church. But to daily pray for and seek opportunities to serve and be a missionary for God. It was a very good and busy day with much laughter, a great meal, and a few tears.

The first week of August was emotional for our family. We had to start saying goodbye to some of our oldest and dearest friends. On Thursday many friends from our church helped load our truck to head North. We are so thankful they were there as Rita and I never would have been able to do it on our own. Three of those men came North with us on Friday morning to help. Also a side note: I must say I am completely awe-struck at the young men that unloaded the truck Friday morning. They had our 26 foot truck unloaded in less than an hour with boxes and furniture in their proper places in the house. We are very thankful for all their help.

We have traded one community for another. Crossroads Community Church has been our home for a long time. The relationships we have made there will last a lifetime. It was difficult to leave family and friends, but God has used them to help prepare us for this ministry. We could not do this without their love and support. Our new community welcomed us with warm hugs, meals shared with new friends, and encouraging words. We are excited to serve with the other staff members at Camp Barakel, and look forward to getting to know everyone better.

It has been almost a week now of living under our new roof. We are slowly getting things squared away. Our house is no longer filled with stacks of boxes, and things are making their way to their proper places. It is starting to feel like home. Also, the lack of traffic up North is amazing! I will not miss the traffic of Metro Detroit at all.

A special note to all our supporters: THANK YOU!! We could not have done this without your prayers and financial support. Know that Rita and I love you all very deeply and want to keep walking this missionary journey at Camp Barakel with you in our corner, interceding for us and Camp to our Heavenly Father. Please pray for Camp that we can get back to hosting families and telling campers all about a loving God that loves them so much that He sent His Son to rescue them. Also if you have not started sending in your support, please do so. If you need an EFT form please let us know. You can send your checks to:

Thanks for all your love and support so far. Please be in touch and let us know how we can pray for you.

Soli Deo Gratia,

Dave and Rita Miron w/ Celia and Eli
